During cold weather operation (below -10F), there may be a squealing or chattering noise coming from the speedometer/meter cluster area.
Grease in the speedo cable climbs upward and enters the speedo head adhering to the rotating section. This grease then hardens during cold temperatures and causes noise.
The grease in the speedometer cable has been changed to a low temperature grease beginning March 28, 1994 mass-production.
To repair this concern, please replace the speedometer and cable together, referring to the following parts list:
