NOTICE No: MT000003964
MODEL: Mazda MPV YEAR: 2000-2001
AFFECTED VINs: N/A
SUBJECT: 626/Protege/MPV Reprogramming Warning with WDS
APPLICABLE MODELS: 2000-2003 Protege, 1998-2000 626, 1998-2002 MX6, 2000-2001 MPV
DETAILS:

For Mazda 626/MPV/Protege:

It is not necessary to remove any fuses or relays during PCM reprogramming when the WDS screen prompts you to do so. You may accidentally stop power to one of the PCM terminals and cause the PCM to be blanked or you may receive error messages during the WDS PCM programming procedure.

WDS is a world wide tool. Certain WDS screens appear that may or may not relate to the Mazda Vehicle you are working on. When performing PCM module reprogramming, you will be prompted to remove fuses for the fuel pump and cooling fans to prevent excessive battery drain or electrical interference during the reprogramming process. For Mazda 626/MPV/Protege - do not remove any fuses or relays when performing PCM module reprogramming. To ensure proper and sustained voltage levels, we suggest that you connect a battery charger to the battery and set the charger to a charge rate of not more than 5-10 amps during the PCM reprogramming process. This will prevent the battery from dropping below minimum voltage levels during the PCM reprogramming process. Removing fuses or relays may accidentally cause power to be stopped to certain PCM power terminals and cause the PCM to be blanked. Or you may receive error messages during the PCM reprogramming process.
