NOTICE No: MT000004210
MODEL: Mazda MPV YEAR: 2004
AFFECTED VINs: N/A
SUBJECT: Procedure To Confirm Satellite Radio Head Software
APPLICABLE MODELS: 2004 MPV, 2004 Miata
DETAILS:

Symptoms and Conditions

After installing an optional Mazda Sirius Satellite radio kit, the SAT button on the radio is inop or will not allow the user to control the SAT system.

Repair Procedure

For the 'SAT' button to be functional, the radio head (radio that came with vehicle) must have the correct SAT software installed. To check the OE radio for correct software, use the following procedure:

  1. Turn radio on and volume to zero.
  2. While pressing and holding the 'Audio Cont Knob', press the #1 preset button for more than two (2) seconds. Audio Control knob is the knob on the right side of radio and marked.
  3. After pressing the #1 preset button for more than two (2) seconds, the software version will be displayed. If the display shows a version that is less than 1.61, the radio does not have the correct software for SAT, and will need to be exchanged at United Radio.
If the display shows a version of 1.61 or higher, the radio has been upgraded with the correct SAT software.
