Before the PCM has been reprogrammed per Recall 86003, use Mode 31 when running an EVAP test on a 2000 MPV. Refer to 2000 MPV WSM Symptom Troubleshooting Section 01-03 when Drive Mode 4 is not possible.
NOTE: Engine RPM will not drop below 2000 RPM unless the accelerator pedal is depressed as stated in Step 15. Also, the NGS will display an error message after depressing accelerator pedal. This is a normal condition. The NGS will display the following message:
- Unable to perform test
- Abnormal exit with results
After the PCM has been reprogrammed per Recall 86003, perform the EVAP Simulation test found in the 1999 Protege WSM. A copy of this test can also be found on the laminated EVAP instruction card for the 1999 Protege New Model In-Dealer Training kit.
- Perform recall # 86003 PCM Reprogramming
- Then perform EVAP testing as per 1999 Protege WSM Troubleshooting Section 01-01.
The NGS will automatically display the test values on screen after the test is complete. Do not depress the accelerator pedal when performing this test. Once test is complete, compare the values found on the NGS screen against those found on the chart in Section 01-01 in the 1999 Protege WSM to determine pass/fail.
