A customer may complain of excessive engine cranking when attempting to start vehicle. This may occur with engine temperature hot or cold.
A possible cause is a stuck open fuel pressure regulator. For production engines, a filter has been added to the regulator to prevent this condition from occurring. Duratec engines manufactured beginning
with April 17th production will have modified part.
- Confirm customer complaint.
- If fuel pressure is below spec during engine cranking and/or zero fuel rest pressure immediately after engine has been turned off, replace fuel pressure regulator.
Note: Factory installed pressure regulator is currently NOT available at the PDC. Attempting to establish modified part number.
