NOTICE No: MT000000499
MODEL: Mazda MPV YEAR: 2000-2002
AFFECTED VINs: N/A
SUBJECT: Locate hard to find water or air leaks
APPLICABLE MODELS: 99-02 Protege, 93-95 RX-7, 98-02 626, 00-02 MPV, 99-02 Miata, 95-02 Millenia
DETAILS:

Try this method to locate hard to find water or air leaks.

  1. Roll up all windows and set the blower on high.
  2. Set to fresh air mode.
  3. Cover the flow thru vents with duct tape (this will pressurize the vehicle).
  4. Obtain soapy bubble mixture (similar to the kind children use to blow bubbles).
  5. Place soapy bubble mixture over edges of window molding, sunroof, cowl area, wheel wells, etc.

A very small hole in a weld or sealer will quickly blow large bubbles about the size of a baseball. Do not forget that there are drain holes in quarter panels which must remain open. If they are have dust intrusion, install a piece of foam to allow water thru but slow down the dust. Use loose cell foam or a plastic pot scrubber.
