NOTICE No: MT000003629
MODEL: Mazda MPV YEAR: 2000-2001
AFFECTED VINs: N/A
SUBJECT: Rear seat entertainment system (RSES) has no audio
DETAILS:
On vehicles equipped with the Rear Seat Entertainment System (RSES), there may be no audio (sound) or intermittent audio at times. The headphones will usually operate normally.

Concerns with no audio (sound) can be traced to poor connections on both ends of the FM modulator cable. This cable is an 8-pin (S-video) cable and can sometimes work its way loose from normal vibration.

Repair Procedure:
Using Service Bulletin no. 005/00 (section 09, 2000 MPV) as your guide, look for loose connections where the 8-pin cable plugs into the FM modulator under the dash (remove the front console and look for the FM modulator packaged inside of a 'foam' protector).

Also look for a loose connection on the opposite end of the FM modulator cable, where the cable connects to the 'TV Tuner Interface' unit. The TV Tuner Interface unit is located BEHIND the LR quarter panel. Remove the LR quarter panel (carefully) and tighten the FM modulator cable where it is attached to the connector marked 'Modulator' on the TV Tuner Interface unit.

Parts Information (for identification only):
0000-8F-F23 (Harness,FM/Modulator)
