Recall #90006 2000 MPV Tire Labels |
Dear Mazda Dealer:
Mazda Motor Corporation is conducting a Recall to update the tire label information on certain 2000 MPV vehicles built from March
31, 1999 through March 31, 2000.
Mazda has learned that on some vehicles equipped with Dunlop or Yokohama
15" tires, the size specification stamped on the side-wall of the tire, the driver's door label, and the tire specification table in the Owner's Manual is incorrectly marked as
P205/65R15 92S. The correct tire size is 205/65R15 94S. Additionally, the letter "P" has been removed from the tire size number. As these tires meet the
"94S" specification, they will not need to be replaced as a result of this recall If there is a need to replace any these tires in the future due to normal tire wear, please make certain the replacement tires have the
"94S" rating.
On the affected vehicles equipped with the 16" tires, the driver's door label and the tire specification table in the Owner's Manual, contain incorrect tire pressure information. They indicate
32psi, however, the correct tire pressure should read 35psi.
In addition, there is an error on the Gross Axle Weight Ratio (GAWR) diagram on both the certification label on the driver's door and in the Owner's Manual. The English version Is Incorrect as It indicates 2581 lbs.; the correct weight should read 2630
lbs.
Mazda will notify owners of subject vehicles by first class mail on July 24, 2000. Two different owner letters will be mailed according to the appropriate tire specification recall. One letter will be sent to owners with 15" tires and another letter will be sent to owners with 16" tires. Each letter will contain two revised tire specification labels that owners will be asked to apply on their own: one to affix to the driver's door on the vehicle and the other to the Owner's Manual. An instruction sheet for proper application of the labels will also be included. Detailed information regarding this recall
is provided in Attachment I. The repair procedure is identified in Attachment II. and a copy of the owner letters is included in Attachment III.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits selling or leasing any subject vehicles without performing the necessary repair for defects or failures. Therefore, you must complete this recall for all vehicles in your inventory prior to sale or lease.
