  • PSD SYSTEM - "INPUTS" CHECKING MODE
Use the procedure to check basic PSD system inputs without using any special test equipment.
  • PSD SYSTEM - COMPONENT LOCATION
Use the illustrations to identify PSD components and their locations on the vehicle.
  • PSD SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM
Use the Wiring Diagram to troubleshooting PSD circuits.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

PSD SYSTEM - DTC CHECKING MODE:

  1. Verify battery is fully charged.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Apply parking brake.
NOTE: If parking brake is not applied, DTC 43 may be set.
  4. Place gear selector in "PARK" position.
    NOTE:
    • STEPS 5 - 8 MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN TEN (10) SECONDS TO ACCESS "DTC CHECKING MODE".
    • Practice may be necessary to complete steps within ten (10) seconds.
    • Check for DTC(s) one (1) door at a time.
  5. Set PSD Main Switch (on dash) to OFF position.
NOTE: For 2002-03 models, PSD Main Switch button is inward and flush when OFF.
  6. Turn Ignition Switch to ON position.
  7. Press PSD Main Switch ON/OFF SEVEN (7) TIMES WITHIN FOUR (4) SECONDS.
  8. Step on brake pedal and press/hold the CLOSE button on PSD front switch for left or right door FOR FIVE (5) SECONDS OR MORE. Listen for one (1) beep sound.
NOTE: If no beep sound is heard, the DTC Checking Mode has NOT been accessed. Repeat Steps 5 - 8 until beep sound is heard.
    • If door has no DTC(s), only one (1) beep sound will be heard. Turn Main Switch OFF and perform Steps 5 - 8 on other power sliding door.
    • If door has DTC(s), the "Door Ajar Warning" and "Courtesy Lights" will flash. Proceed to Step 9.
  9. Count the number of long and short flashes (long flashes = 1st DTC digit, short flashes = 2nd DTC digit).
Example: Four (4) long flashes and three (3) short flashes = DTC 43.
  10. Record the DTC(s) on the Repair Order.
  11. To exit the DTC Checking Mode and/or stop the lights from flashing, press the Main Switch OFF then back ON again (PSD operation is not possible in the DTC Checking Mode).
  12. Record customer's radio pre-set stations before pulling 15A room fuse in next step.
  13. To clear DTC(s) for both doors, pull the 15A room fuse and step on the brake pedal FOR FIVE (5) SECONDS.
  14. Reinstall the 15A room fuse and perform Steps 5- 8 to confirm DTC(s) have been cleared.
  15. NOTE: DTC(s) can be set even when the PSD operates correctly. If there is a concern, clear the DTC(s) first by pulling the 15A room fuse and reinstalling, then duplicate the concern. When the concern is duplicated, the correct DTC can then be obtained.
    • If DTC(s) are found, follow the Workshop Manual Troubleshooting procedures (09-02A-6 & 7) for each DTC.
    • If DTC(s) are not found, proceed to "PSD System INPUTS Checking Procedure" in this Service Bulletin.
  16. If inputs check "good", refer to the Workshop Manual (09-03A-6) for Troubleshooting (no DTCs).
  17. Be sure to reset customer's radio pre-set stations once all steps are completed.

PSD SYSTEM - "INPUTS" CHECKING MODE:

  1. Verify battery is fully charged.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Apply parking brake.
  4. Set PSD Main Switch (on dash) to OFF position.
NOTE: For 2002-03 models, PSD Main Switch button is inward and flush when OFF.
  5. Place gear selector in "PARK" position.
    NOTE:
    • TO ACCESS THE "INPUTS CHECKING MODE", STEPS 6 - 8 MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN TEN (10) SECONDS.
    • Practice will be necessary to complete the steps within ten (10) seconds.
  6. Turn Ignition Switch to ON position.
  7. Press PSD Main Switch ON/OFF SEVEN (7) TIMES WITHIN FOUR (4) SECONDS.

NOTE: STEP 9 MUST BE PERFORMED WITHIN FIVE (5) SECONDS AFTER ACCESSING THE "INPUT CHECKING MODE".
  9. Begin checking input switches by pressing OPEN or CLOSED on each dash mounted PSD Switch.
    • If the switch circuit is "good", one (1) beep sound will be heard when pressing each switch.
    • If the switch is "bad", no beep sound will be heard. Troubleshoot switch according to WSM procedure.

NOTE: STEPS 10 - 14 MUST BE PERFORMED WITHIN NINETY (90) SECONDS, OR A BUZZER WILL SOUND CONTINUOUSLY TO WARN OF AN ABNORMAL INPUT. TO STOP BUZZER SOUND, TURN MAIN SWITCH OFF, THEN BACK ON.

  10. Move the gear selector from PARK to REVERSE.
    • If a beep sound is heard, P-range switch is "good".
    • If a beep sound is not heard, inspect P-range circuit/harness for open or short.
